The SEA-ME-WE 6 International Submarine Cable System spans an impressive 21,700 km, connecting Singapore to France with a 130Tbps capacity, delivering high-speed and low-latency connectivity across three continents. This state-of-the-art cable system will significantly enhance seamless communication between Europe, the Middle East, and South East Asia, further solidifying SLT's strategic position in both the local and global markets.
As a key consortium partner, Sri Lanka Telecom's involvement in this transformative infrastructure project will ensure enhanced global connectivity and reliable data transmission services for businesses and consumers alike.
The marine route for the cable has been carefully selected to minimize environmental impact, with comprehensive environmental assessments conducted and adherence to marine protection policies, demonstrating SLT’s commitment to responsible and sustainable infrastructure development.
In addition to SEA-ME-WE 6, SLT is already connected to several international submarine cables, including the SEA-ME-WE consortium cables, Bharat-Lanka, and Dhiraagu-SLT cables. Our continuous investment in cutting-edge submarine cable systems ensures uninterrupted, high-quality service for both local and global networks.
We are excited about the future of connectivity and the opportunities this project brings to Sri Lanka and beyond.
